'I’ll try to keep it up all year,' New and improved Daniil Medvedev tries to get a grip on his emotions as he outlines a rather difficult goal for this season

Daniil Medvedev is known for his animated behavior on the court, and as a part of that, he is seen typically creating a scene on the court. However, with the new year, the Russian ace has vowed to turn over a new leaf and reduce unnecessary interactions on the court.

One of his trademark emotional outbursts is seen in his racket smashes. Medvedev is one player who vents out his frustration using this highly frowned upon act. In a recent interview, he even counted to around five racket smashes in a year, as he set a goal to not even break one this year.

It happens that something happens in life. You come to training and everything infuriates you - then you also break it. But I don’t think I do it often—maybe five a year. But in this, I repeat, not a single one. I'll try to keep it up all year! said Daniil Medvedev via Express.ru‘s Igor Rabiner

Medvedev was rather proud of himself while stating that he did not break a racket so far in the year. Despite some tough losses, including a rather frustrating one at the Australian Open, the Russian has maintained his cool, as he works towards his goal.

Daniil Medvedev has some anger management tips

Russian pro-Daniil Medvedev has been a calmer persona, as opposed to his general image so far in the year. As part of his New Year’s resolution to focus more on his game, Medvedev has taken a path of peace.

Surprisingly so, the 2024 Australian Open finalist shared anger management tips and how he manages to keep his angst in check. In doing so, Medvedev acknowledged the support system to have played a crucial role in his development. He gave credit to his psychologist and coaches for changing his mental well-being.

I think working with a psychologist, a good coach, and the team around me helped. And finally, as I grow older, I have more victories and more losses. said Daniil Medvedev

Furthermore, Medvedev also spoke about the importance of experience, and how it automatically helps deal with losses better. He emphasized the importance of matches regardless of their outcomes, and how it helps him to see life more clearly.

The more matches I have behind me with any outcome, the better I understand that life does not end with tennis. Yes, this is a very important part of my life, and I try to do almost everything in order to play tennis better. But in the end, the match won or lost is over, and nothing can be changed.  concluded Medvedev

So far, Medvedev has been on the good side of things and hopes to continue inching toward his ambitious ‘goal’. The Russian is soon to begin his Monte-Carlo Masters campaign.
