'It is absolutely disgraceful': Rome Open organisers slammed as Casper Ruud v Jaume Munar postponed late on Wednesday

Rome Open organisers have been slammed as Casper Ruud and Jaume Munar will be forced to return tomorrow to play their tie as they have had to wait all day for it to be cancelled.

Whilst a rain delay did not help proceedings one bit, Peyton Stearns v Elina Svitolina and Tommy Paul v Alex de Minaur for instance is still being played. Also these two ties as a result mean that other courts were realistically free.

As of around 22:00 local time, Stearns and Svitolina got onto court and Ruud v Munar was still on the schedule but was cancelled shortly after. But not only is it now an inconvenience for both, it also widely benefits the next opponent in Jannik Sinner.

Sinner won earlier today and won't play tomorrow unlike Ruud or Munar and so will be more fresher. Coco Vandeweghe who is well known for speaking her mind on Tennis Channel widely slammed the move calling the way both players were messed around was 'disgraceful'.

"It should've been decided not only to get it to a different court but also to keep these men on schedule, it's what we talked about from the start. The fact they kept these men this late, this long..it is absolutely disgraceful," said Vandeweghe on Tennis Channel.

"Not only for them to play to the best of their ability but to be able to recover for the next round."

As per the rules, no more than five matches per day per court and two during the night session. No matches will go on court past 11pm, matches not on court by 10:30pm will be moved to an alternative court. In exceptional circumstances, a tournament may request a waiver based on this case on weather conditions. But it wasn't and now Ruud and Munar have to return tomorrow.
