British No.1 Jack Draper has announced via social media that he will not be playing the 206 Australian Open, amidst ongoing injury trouble.

That makes it six months and counting since we last saw a fit Draper take to court.

Disappointment After Disappointment

After a shock early exit in Round 2 of Wimbledon, it was revealed he was struggling with an arm injury.

Since then, it’s been nothing but setbacks. Not playing any hard-court warm up tournaments, he played one match at the US Open and won it, despite clearly not being 100% fit, before pulling out of his second round match.

He was hopeful of returning for the ATP Finals, but had to pull out from that due to the same arm injury. Rather remarkably, he only managed one match in the second half of the 2025 season.

While Draper was once again hopeful of being ready to compete in 2026, he conceded the first Major of the year arrived a little bit too soon for him.

Worrying Times

Draper fans will rightly be worried about just how long he has been sidelined by this injury.

Injury woes are unfortunately nothing new for the 24-year-old, either. In his four years on Tour so far he has been injured on several occasions.

What’s most disappointing is that Draper has all the tools to challenge for Grand Slams, and we have seen glimpses of just how good he can be when fully fit–notably making the Semifinals of the US Open in 2024.

But, will we ever see an injury free Draper again? It certainly won’t be happening early in 2026. Hopefully it comes relatively soon.
