Jannik Sinner fulfills Serena Williams’ former coach’s bold 2024 prediction with his Australian Open victory as the WTA icon beams with pride

The chances looked bleak for Sinner, who was up against Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals. The Serbian had a 100% win rate at the semi-final of the Australian Open. Playing lights-out tennis, Sinner registered a maiden semi-final win in Melbourne and booked a spot against Daniil Medvedev for the trophy. 

Coming back from down two sets, the Italian created history by becoming one of the youngest Italians to win the Australian Open. With this win, he got Rennae Stubbs’s predictions right.  “Thank You!” tweeted the former WTA star after a fan praised her for the prediction. 

Jannik Sinner has the whole of Italy following tennis as he gears up for his second tournament of the year

After his Australian Open heroics, Jannik Sinner has become a headline in the tennis world. Not only is everyone talking about him, but the whole of Italy is following tennis after his Melbourne heroics.

So it’s a very nice feeling and it’s very good also for our sport and I hope that I can be part of that in the future. After a perfect finish to 2023, Sinner was expected to go big in 2024 and he did exactly that at the Australian Open. Withdrawing from Marseille, Sinner is set to play his second tournament at Rotterdam. 

After last year’s heroics at this tournament, Sinner lost to Medvedev in the finals. However, the defending champion is not playing in the tournament, giving Sinner a strong chance to overtake Medvedev in the ATP rankings. Last year, Medvedev had deep runs after the Australian Open, winning 4 out of 5 finals.

Unfortunately, the Russian hasn’t revealed his entry to many of these tournaments, giving Sinner a clear chance to reach a career-high ranking of No.3. Back in business, Sinner faces a familiar face in the first round of Rotterdam. He is up against Botic van de Zandschulp to begin his second tournament of the 2024 season.
