Jannik Sinner 'proud' as he triumphs in Rotterdam
IPA

Jannik Sinner has clinched his second title of the season at the ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam.

The young Italian beat Australian number one Alex de Minaur in the final, winning 7-5 6-4 having only dropped one set all tournament.

The 22-year-old is certainly playing with confidence after winning his first Grand Slam at the Australian Open last month.

Sinner has now won 32 of his last 34 matches, and Rotterdam represents his third consecutive ATP 500 win after claiming the Beijing and Vienna titles late last year.

After the match, Sinner was quick to praise the team effort from his coaches and said he aims to continually get better.

"My team, we did a really good job a few weeks ago and now we made a very good job here," Sinner said.

"I am really proud with the level that I played throughout this whole week. We have been in tough situations but we handled it the right way. We will always try to improve, it is the most important."

The win means Sinner will climb to number 3 in the Pepperstone ATP Rankings. This is not only the highest ranking for Sinner himself, but the highest for any Italian man ever.

De Minaur will also reach a career-high ranking of number 9 in the Pepperstone ATP Rankings just for reaching the final.
