World #1 Jannik Sinner has brought back his fitness coach, Umberto Ferrara, with whom he parted ways following an inquiry into his positive tests for a prohibited substance.

Ferrara and physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi left the Italian’s team last August, five months after Sinner had two positive results for clostebol.

Sinner was exonerated by an independent tribunal of any misconduct last August, but the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) contested the panel’s decision that he bore no fault or negligence.

The 23-year-old accepted a three-month suspension in February after agreeing with WADA.

The anti-doping agency said that it acknowledged Sinner did not intend to cheat but was accountable for the negligence of the entourage.

Sinner explained that clostebol, which can enhance muscle mass, entered his body when Naldi used an over-the-counter spray to treat a cut on his hand.

Ferrara said that he had given the spray to Naldi for personal use and cautioned him against applying it to Sinner.

Following the exits of Ferrara and Naldi, Sinner brought on fitness coach Marco Panichi and physiotherapist Ulises Badio in September. However, he separated from them shortly before this year’s Wimbledon.

Sinner made his comeback at the Italian Open in May.

He fell short in the French Open final against Carlos Alcaraz in a gripping five-set match in June, before defeating him in the Wimbledon final this month to secure his fourth Grand Slam title and his first at SW19.
