Jannik Sinner’s 3 Most Impressive Streaks Right Now

World No.1 Jannik Sinner is officially back at the Italian Open. After completing a three-month doping suspension, the Italian kicked off his journey at the Rome Masters as he won his opening-round. Sinner beat Mariano Navone in straight sets to book his spot in the Round of 64 at the event.

As the storyline surrounding Sinner builds up, there are three streaks that everyone needs to be aware of regarding the World No.1. The Italian is the best player in the world for a reason, and there are three reasons why he sits at the top of the ATP rankings.

1. Reached Quarterfinals in Every Event Since October 2023

The more we look at this stat, the more ridiculous it gets. Sinner has defined consistency since October 2023. The last time he lost before the quarterfinals of an ATP event was at the Paris Masters 2023. The streak started at the ATP Finals, where he made the finals. However, he lost to Novak Djokovic in straight sets. But the breakthrough came after he led Italy to the Davis Cup, avenging his defeat to the Serb.

He went the entire 2024 season without losing a tournament before the quarterfinals. The season’s highlight came at the Australian and US Open, where he bagged his first two Grand Slam titles. He won his first ATP Finals and defended the Davis Cup with Italy. His lowest moments came at Wimbledon and the Rogers Cup. He lost to Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals, respectively.

2. Undefeated in Matches Since October 2024

This statistic is as ridiculous as the first one. Sinner is on a 22-match winning streak that dates back to October 2024. The Italian’s last defeat came against Carlos Alcaraz at the China Open. The Spaniard beat his great rival in the third set tiebreak. This is the only final defeat the World No.1 endured in the 2024 season. Interestingly, Alcaraz is the only player Sinner has failed to beat since the start of the 2024 season.

Since then, the World No.1 secured his fourth career Masters 1000 title at the Shanghai Open, defeating Djokovic in the final. Then, he won the ATP Finals and defended the Davis Cup with Italy. Sinner continued with his momentum by defending his Australian Open crown, dispatching Alexander Zverev in straight sets. With his opening-round win at the Rome Masters, the winning streak now stands at 22.

3. Held World No. 1 Ranking Since June 2024

With such mind-boggling stats, Sinner won’t find himself anywhere other than at the top of the ATP rankings. Alcaraz has won two Grand Slams in 2024, just like Alcaraz. However, he never showed the consistency that his great rival produced. The low points for Alcaraz were extremely low, as he lost in the second round of the US Open and failed to make the knockout stages of the ATP Finals.

On the other hand, Sinner won seven ATP titles in 2024. However, he was going deep in the tournaments, but he was not winning. As a result, he collected enough points to become World No.1. He was the first Italian to become the No.1 ranked ATP player last June, and he has kept that spot since. The dominance can be seen in that he comfortably sits at the top of the ATP rankings despite having a three-month ban.
