Milos Raonic officially announced that he would be retiring from professional tennis.

Raonic is a former Wimbledon finalist, but he had not competed since 2024 after struggling with injuries.

After confirming that he would no longer be competing, Raonic received a message from Boris Becker on social media.

Raonic was also messaged by his compatriot Felix Auger-Aliassime , and now John Isner has made a big claim about the Canadian’s career.

John Isner reacts to Milos Raonic’s retirement announcement

Isner was one of many people to congratulate Raonic on his career after the announcement was made, and he continued to speak about the former world number four on the Nothing Major Podcast.

When reflecting on his 16-year career, Isner called Raonic the greatest Canadian tennis player of all time, ahead of both Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov.

“Me personally, I thought Milos had a fantastic career, I mean everyone would obviously agree,” said Isner. “He had a fantastic career, got to three in the world and reached a Slam final.

“Plagued by a lot of injuries, but in my mind he’s right now, maybe Felix or Denis can surpass him, he’s the best Canadian player of all time. To reach three in the world and get to a Slam final, I think we would all like to say congrats to Milos on a really fantastic career.”

How do Milos Raonic’s career achievements compare to Felix Auger-Aliassime?

Raonic is the highest ranked Canadian singles player in history, and is the only man from his nation to reach a Grand Slam final as of yet.

However, he is not the only Canadian singles player to reach a Grand Slam final, with both Bianca Andreescu and Leylah Fernandez also achieving this feat.

Fernandez lost to Emma Raducanu in the 2021 US Open final, while Andreescu went all the way to the title in New York in 2019.

Although Raonic is not the only Canadian to reach a major final, he has won the same number of titles as both Andreescu and Fernandez combined.

This is likely to change though, as Fernandez is just 23 years old, while injury-plagued Andreescu is 25 years of age.
