All matches in the group stage of the WTA Finals 2025 came to an end, which has led to four decisive semifinalists. Some of the top players like Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek faced a shocking group stage exit, while Jasmine Paolini and Madison Keys could not progress either.
Two of the most dominant players in the tournament have been Rybakina and Sabalenka. In the Serena Williams Group, Rybakina was at her best and qualified for the semis by winning all of her matches. The star player beat Iga, Keys, and Anisimova in her group to end it as the topper to qualify for the semis.
On the other hand, Sabalenka dominated the Steffi Graf Group by winning all of her matches. The Belarusian beat Paolini, Gauff, and Pegula to top her group. In the process, she became the first WTA star since Maria Sharapova in the period 2004-2007 to qualify for the semifinal in four consecutive seasons.
While there was a clear topper in both groups, it came down to other six players in both groups, whose qualification depended clearly on beating others. Anisimova and Pegula did exactly that in their groups. In the Serena Williams group, Anisimova beat both Swiatek and Keys, which led to her qualification.
In the Steffi Graf group, Pegula managed to beat Gauff and Paolini, which ensured her qualification for the semis. In the semifinal, the players topping the table would face the second best players of their opposite groups. Hence, Sabalenka will face Anisimova and Rybakina will be up against Pegula in the semis.
