Mirra Andreeva and Donna Vekic shared a funny moment in the middle of the Rome Open, after the teenager took the microphone of “What the Vlog” – Daria Kasatkina’s YouTube channel – to conduct a funny round of questions and answers with the 29-year-old Croatian.
The 18-year-old had a great showing in the second WTA 1000 on clay courts of the season, reaching the quarterfinals, although she ended up falling to the eventual runner-up Coco Gauff (4-6, 6-7). Andreeva secured a couple of top-30 victories along the way against Linda Noskova and Clara Tauson.
The world No. 6 once again showed her great sense of humor on Kasatkina’s YouTube channel alongside her girlfriend, skater Natalia Zabiiako. For a couple of years now, the Russian has shared with fans some of the behind-the-scenes of her travels around the world competing on the WTA Tour, in which Andreeva is one of those who regularly appears, due to her friendship with the former world No. 8, who recently changed her Russian citizenship to Australian.
Although Andreeva is usually the one in front of the camera, showing her spontaneous personality, this time she took the microphone to become the interviewer. While strolling through the Rome Open dining area during lunchtime, she ran into Vekic and didn’t hesitate to ask her a couple of questions, although not about tennis precisely.
MA: “Hello, what are you eating?” she asked unexpectedly upon crossing paths with Vekic.
DV: “White fish and spinach,” replied the silver medalist at the 2024 Olympic Games.
MA: That’s healthy, how do you manage to look so great after matches?
DV: “Because I go to the hairdresser.”
MA: Okay, how often do you go to a hairdresser?
DV: “Too often. Maybe every 2-3 days,” she replied laughingly.
Andreeva and Vekic have already played each other once on the WTA Tour, back in the Beijing 2024 third round. On that occasion, Andreeva secured a three-set victory 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. However, the rivalry was set aside off the court, and Andreeva once again showed how she interacts with her colleagues.
MA: “What is your favorite song to sing in karaoke?” Andreeva continued.
DV: “Unwritten,” replied Vekic.
MA: And what are your plans for this day?
DV: I’m gonna have lunch, do some treatment, and then go eat pasta.
MA: Who will be eating with you?
DV: My friends here at home.
MA: OK, thank you for your time. Go and join your friends and have a good time,” concluded the Russian world No. 6.
