Mirra Andreeva finally has her first win at the Rome Open easing past Emiliana Arango 6-2, 6-4 and will now face Linda Noskova in the third round at the Foro Italico.
Andreeva now is the second youngest player to register 18 wins in WTA 1000 events in a single season older only than Martina Hingis as she emulates her once more.
Arango though broke Andreeva twice in the second set but Andreeva managed to figure it out. She finally got over the line in 89 minutes but it was Andreeva's first main draw win in Rome.
She'll play Linda Noskova in a third round match on Sunday. Noskova was a 6-4, 6-4 winner over Sonay Kartal. Andreeva's flat backhand was the true measure as she was able to dominate with that. She converted 6/10 break points while Arango was on 3/9.
Only Aryna Sabalenka has more wins in WTA 1000's than Andreeva this year. Elsewhere Zheng Qinwen figured out the Olga Danilovic puzzle sealing a 6-1, 6-4 win. Magdalena Frech saw off Victoria Azarenka 7-5, 6-4. While Clara Tausen eased past Katie Volynets who retired in the second set.
Emma Raducanu is a set up on Jil Teichmann too while Amanda Anisimova is clawing to stay in her clash with Veronika Kudermetova. But the now 18-year-old Andreeva is through successfully.
