Frenchwoman Lois Boisson is undoubtedly the breakout star of the 2025 Roland Garros tournament, and the Dijon native has revealed her goal of shattering expectations by winning her maiden Grand Slam title in Paris.

Ranked World No.361 at the start of the French Open, Boisson was making her Grand Slam debut. The 22-year old announced her arrival by defeating Belgian veteran Elise Mertens in three sets in their first round encounter.

Winning the title is her ultimate goal, admits a confident Boisson

The Frenchwoman would slowly make her way to the round of 16, where she scored the biggest win of her career by upsetting third seeded American Jessica Pegula in three sets. Boisson would keep the momentum going, defeating sixth seeded Russian Mirra Andreeva in straight sets in the quarterfinals to reach her first Major semifinal in her maiden Grand Slam event.

Now viewed as one of the best stories coming out of Roland Garros, it would be understandable if Boisson was overwhelmed by her newfound fame. However, the 22-year old had garnered self belief during her run in Paris, and announced her intention to be more than just a feel good story during the French Open.

"I think every kid who plays tennis has the dream to win a Slam," said Boisson. "For French players, even more to win Roland Garros. It’s a dream for sure. I will go for the dream. My dream is to win it. Not to be in the semifinal."

Awaiting Boisson in the semifinals is former runner-up Coco Gauff, who battled back from a set down to defeat compatriot Madison Keys. Should the Frenchwoman overcome the American, she will face the winner between powerhouses Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek, as the duo are scheduled to compete in the other semifinal.
