Naomi Osaka Taunts Her Haters After U.S. Open Criticism

Unfortunately for Osaka, her outfits at the US Open received a lot of backlash online. Some fans accused her of being more focused on her fashion than her actual matches.

After losing to Elena Rybakina in the quarterfinals, Osaka fired back at every single critic.

“You know… idgaf if you don’t like me. I don’t mind being the first to do something and getting trashed for it,” Osaka wrote on Threads. “This happened when I talked about mental health and for some reason it’s happening with my clothes lol. I’m literally Haitian it’s in my blood to be this way, as long as the people after me have an easier path it’s worth it.”

Leaving the US Open with the right mindset.

Despite falling short of winning her fifth Grand Slam title, Osaka said she’s not disappointed by her results at the US Open.

“I’m honestly not disappointed now. It’s a very strange feeling. And last year, I wasn’t that disappointed either. Amanda [Anisimova] just played really insane. Maybe I’m just getting older, but I don’t feel sad,” Osaka said, via ESPN. “I think I am happy that I’m taking losses differently. I’m trying to learn from them a lot more. Honestly, if today I was to say I’m sad, I would say that I’m just sad that I couldn’t push off of my foot. Like I’m sad that I couldn’t do what I set out to do. For me, when I think about my life, my daughter is healthy, everyone in my family is great. I had an opportunity to play this Slam, I got as far as I could, so it’s only up from here.”

Osaka still has a lot to be proud of this season. Not only did she have success on all three surfaces, she proved she can still compete against the best players on the WTA Tour.
