NCAA makes decision on whether Tennessee fans will see the Vols play in Knoxville to open the NCAA baseball tournament

Fans of the Tennessee Volunteers will get to see their team play at least one more weekend this year at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

The NCAA announced on Sunday night the regional hosts for the 2025 NCAA baseball tournament, and the Vols and Knoxville were included on the list.

Tennessee managed to hang onto a regional hosting opportunity despite a rocky finish to SEC play.  The Vols finished with a winning SEC mark at 16-14, but they struggled over the final seven weeks of conference play, losing six of seven series.  Those series losses included home series losses to Kentucky - a bubble team - and Texas A&M, who are all but certain to miss the tournament.

Some projections had the Vols as out of hosting heading into the SEC tournament in Hoover, Alabama last week, but Tennessee managed to take advantage of an opportunity to change that narrative.  The Vols knocked off tourney-bound Alabama 15-10 to open the tournament and followed that up with one of their most impressive wins of the season - a 7-5 12-inning win over #1 Texas in a game that Tennessee trailed 4-0.

We'll find out soon enough who else will be playing in the Knoxville regional, as the full bracket comes out on Monday at noon on ESPN2.
