Tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios has found himself in the spotlight again despite missing a chunk of the 2025 ATP season. The Aussie star has taken shots at the media for trying to create friction between himself and American tennis player Christopher Eubanks following some controversial comments made by Kyrgios regarding the 2025 Wimbledon Championships coverage.

The former World No.13 has dealt with injuries over the past two years, leading to him taking extended time away from competitive tennis. However, Kyrgios found a second calling as a pundit, providing analysis and commentary during the 2024 Wimbledon tournament for BBC network.

Kyrgios withdraws from 2025 Wimbledon but booted from BBC

The former Wimbledon runner-up made an attempt to return to the ATP tour this season, but suffered a setback that saw him skip the entire grass court season. Fans expected him to resume his commentary duties for BBC, but the broadcasting network opted not to invite him back following negative feedback stemming from his admission of assault of his ex-girlfriend, and his past misogynistic comments.

The 30-year old would respond by stating the BBC had more to lose, as Kyrgios believed his wins over Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic enabled him to provide greater insight into the sport. Furthermore, Kyrgios would compound the situation by stating the BBC had brought on Eubanks, who Kyrgios claimed had never beaten any of the great players.

"It’s unfortunate but it’s probably their loss more than mine," said Kyrgios in an interview with The Guardian. "I understand they’ve got Chris Eubanks, but he hasn’t beaten the greatest of all time multiple times. When someone’s beaten Federer, Nadal, Murray and Djokovic and has incredible insights, it’s very strange you wouldn’t want that person adding knowledge to tennis fans."

This would lead to Kyrgios receiving backlash from fans, prompting him to take to social media to clarify his statements.

"The media makes me laugh honestly low key have always enjoyed Eubanks as a commentator, always going to spin what I say and turn it into some sort of rivalry or friction I think if we were on the same panel, would be beneficial to the sport tennis is weird," wrote Kyrgios on Twitter.

Subsequently, Eubanks would later speak on the matter, stating neither he nor his team had any dealings with BBC and would not be part of the network's coverage or commentary. However, the American did reveal he was looking forward to competing at SW19, an event where he reached the quarterfinals in 2023.
