Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray have mutually agreed to part ways. The Scottish legend will no longer be working as the coach of the Serbian tennis legend. This comes a few days before the start of the Geneva Open, where the 24-time Grand Slam champion has taken a wildcard.

Djokovic and Murray had announced their collaboration in November last year. The Serb announced an exciting chapter in their friendship as Murray announced coaching badges only a few months after retiring from the sport. However, the duo never got going and has generated zero ATP titles together. The best moment of their collaboration came at the Miami Open, where the Serb made the final. However, he lost to Jakub Mensik in straight sets.

What Did Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray Say?

In an emotional post on Instagram, Djokovic said, “Thank you, coach Andy, for all the hard work, fun & support over last six months on & off the court. I really enjoyed deepening our friendship together ”. Murray liked the post on the platform. Djokovic had also shared this post on his Instagram story.

In reply, Murray said, “Thanks to Novak for the unbelievable opportunity to work together, and thanks to his team for all their hard work over the past six months. I wish Novak all the best for the rest of the season.”

Final Thoughts

After ending his partnership with Goran Ivanisevic last year, Djokovic was without a coach. However, he competed well and won the Olympic Gold at the Paris Olympics. Now, after relieving Murray of his duties, the Serb will once again be playing without a voice alongside him. It is a bold move by the three-time Roland Garros champion, as he looks to get his career back on track. Djokovic hopes to improve his performances in the Geneva Open this week and strengthen his bid for Roland Garros.
