Novak Djokovic becomes fifth player to reach 50 Grand Slam quarterfinals

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic keeps adding his name to the record books.

On Monday, the two-time defending Wimbledon champion toppled Cristian Garin 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 to reach the tournament's quarterfinal round. According to ESPN Stats & Information, Djokovic became the fifth player to hit 50 career Grand Slam quarterfinals, along with Roger Federer (57 Grand Slam quarterfinals heading into his Monday match), Chris Evert (54), Serena Williams (54) and Martina Navratilova (53).

Williams retired from her first-round match because of an injury last week.

Back in March, Djokovic broke Federer's record for most weeks atop the official ATP rankings.

"It's a privilege to break records in the sport that I truly love," Djokovic said following Monday's victory. "I'm devoted to this sport as much as I think anybody out there on the tour. I just try to do my best."

Federer and Rafael Nadal currently share the men's record of 20 career Grand Slam titles, one ahead of Djokovic. Nadal isn't playing at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club this summer, while Djokovic has shown no signs of slowing down or losing before the Wimbledon final.
