‘Novak Djokovic is the strongest in history,’ says ATP ace

Lorenzo Sonego has described Novak Djokovic as the ‘strongest player in history’ when you look at everything he has won.

Debate rages among tennis fans and analysts over which of the current big three, Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal, should be considered the greatest of all time.

Sonego, though, says there can be only be one winner if you look at nothing but the statistics.

“Djokovic has had incredible results, is practically the strongest in history in terms of trophies won,” Sonego said.

“He has the grandest objectives, like winning the calendar year Grand Slam which he almost did this year.”

Djokovic fell just short of the calendar Grand Slam, losing to Daniil Medvedev in the US Open final.

Sonego, though, thinks that just made him more relatable.

“Nole has shown that we are all human beings, and that the pressure is very difficult to manage,” he said.

“If no one has managed to do it in the last 50 years there is a reason.

“And anyway, winning three Grand Slams and making the final in the last one is something that only phenomenal people can achieve.

“Djokovic has won everything, he only thinks of being calm and having fun.”
