Prayers Pouring In For Tennis Star Katie Boulter On Friday

Tennis fans are keeping Katie Boulter in their thoughts this Friday.

Boulter, 28, came into Wimbledon feeling good after a first-round upset over Paula Badosa. However, she fell short to qualifier Solana Sierra 6-7(7), 6-2, 6-1 in the very next round.

Prior to this year's Wimbledon Championships, the British tennis star revealed that she's been receiving threats and hate messages online. Some people wished death on her following her first-round match at the French Open.

"It becomes more apparent every single time you go on your phone," Boulter told the BBC. "I think it just kind of shows how vulnerable we are, you really don't know if this person is on site, if they're nearby or if they know where you live or anything like that. As far as death threats, it's just not something you want to be reading straight after an emotional loss. A lot of the time you get it after you win as well."

Unfortunately, that awful trend continued after Boulter's loss to Sierra. Countless people posted despicable messages on her Instagram page once that match went final.

Thankfully, some of Boulter's fans showed their support for her this Friday morning.

"Can’t believe what terrible comments from the haters surely karma will find them. However hard try to ignore Hold your head high Katie," one person said in response to the hate messages.

"The amount of abuse she’s getting is ridiculous, you people who are commenting about her you know who you are and you will be dealt with sending death threats really grow up," an Instagram user commented.

"The hate comments on this post disgust me. Sad, sad people. Thank you Katie for inspiring millions," a fan said.

"It just wasn't your day today but stay strong girl and come back fighting. You have great spirit and soul," another follower wrote.

Boulter has never made it past the third round at Wimbledon. She's confident that'll change sooner or later.

"One day it’s gonna happen for me and I’m gonna circle back to this moment. Until then love you Wimbledon," Boulter wrote on Instagram.

In the meantime, Boulter will get herself ready for the US Open.
