No player in men's or women's professional tennis has dominated a major tournament quite like Rafael Nadal has dominated the French Open. The Spaniard has captured a record 13 French Open titles across his career, more championships than any men's or women's tennis player has earned at any major event.
Now, Nadal's participation in the 2022 competition appears to be up in the air.

ESPN and the Associated Press reported Tuesday morning that Nadal sustained the injury during the semifinals at the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells. The 35-year-old ended up falling to Taylor Frtiz in the finals in two sets on Sunday.
According to ESPN and the Associated Press, Nadal said Tuesday he underwent exams after arriving in Spain from the United States and results showed he has a stress fracture on one of his left ribs. The 2022 French Open is scheduled to run from May 16 to June 5.
