Rafael Nadal will have a ‘special farewell ceremony’ at Roland Garros but not this year
Abaca Press

Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal is all set to play at the 2024 Roland Garros. The Spaniard is making a return to his favorite tournament after missing out on it last year. Nevertheless, he is coming back and there is a lot of anticipation for the same. But there are also concerns that this will be his last dance at the Roland Garros.

If Nadal is making his last appearance at the French Open, there has to be a farewell ceremony. However, there has been no such announcement from the organizers yet. And if reports are to be believed, Nadal will not have any farewell ceremony at the 2024 Roland Garros.

Does that mean, the most successful player of the tournament will not even have a chance to say goodbye to the fans? Certainly not. Nadal will have a special farewell ceremony at Roland Garros but not this year. As per a report, the Spaniard has talked to the organizers and has been assured that there will be a farewell ceremony in the future but not this year.

An X user shared a snapshot where it has been mentioned that Nadal has been assured of a farewell ceremony and the 37-year-old is ready to come back for it next year. Nadal said that there will be a natural farewell where he will bid adieu to the fans.

Rafael Nadal’s farewell can wait but the 15th title can’t!

While there is enough time for Rafael Nadal for a farewell ceremony as he can come back at any time and express his gratitude to the fans and everyone involved in the Roland Garros, the 15th French Open title cannot wait for a long time. Nadal needs to push for it this year with his fitness declining with time.

Although the Spaniard is the most successful player in the history of the tournament with a record 14 titles to his name, Nadal will be hungry for one more as he looks to finish his career on a high. He could not participate in the 2023 edition of the tournament but he is in Paris this year and ready to take on his opponents.

Nadal has not played as much as he would have liked leading into the tournament but he has spent enough time on the court during matches and practice sessions. Now is the time for him to translate his performances from practice sessions to the matches at 2024 Roland Garros. Whatever happens, it will be a fun ride for tennis fans.
