Australia’s campaign was reduced to a just one player left, after a brutal five-setter for Alex de Minaur.

A lot of action in the second round of the French Open, and despite it's said that clay-courts don't favor English-speakers, the British men and the American women performed exceptionally this Thursday.

Cameron Norrie backed up his opening-round shock taking down Daniil Medvedev with a solid 7-6 (9), 6-2, 6-1 win against Argentine qualifier Federico Gómez, relying on his incredible serve.

Wild-card Jacob Fearnley joined him when Ugo Humbert retired at 6-3, 4-4 because of an ankle injury.

The night ticket on Court Philippe-Chatrier belonged to fifth world No. 5 Jack Draper, who silenced French crowd to defeat Gael Monfils 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, in an epic battle.

Draper will be facing Joao Fonseca on Saturday, as Norrie and Fearley are set on a collision course to decide who gets a spot in the round of 16.

British ladies didn't had the same luck. Marie Bouzkova defeated Sonay Kartal and Katie Boulter said goodbye to Paris after falling short against Australian Open champion, Madison Keys in straight sets 6-1, 6-3.

But this wasn't the only good news for the Americans as Coco Gauff secured her spot in the third round too, defeating Czechia's Tereza Valentova 6-2, 6-4. Jessica Pegula, Sofia Kenin and Hailey Baptiste also sealed their tickets to round three.

Ethan Quinn was another one to earn his spot in the next round after defeating Kazakhstan's Alexander Shevchenko in a five-set thriller.
