USA Today Sports

With the tennis season entering the final quarter of 2025, seven more players will take no further part after announcing their imminent retirement. In this retirement series, we list those players who recently retired. Please note that the high-profile retirements of Petra Kvitova and Caroline Garcia had been covered in our previous retirement articles.

Seven More Players Retire in 2025

1. Kyle Edmund

Former British No. 1 Kyle Edmund announced his imminent retirement from tennis in mid-August. Edmund, 30, battled persistent injuries in his career and played his last tournament at the Nottingham Challenger in July, where he was a runner-up. He won two ATP Tour titles and reached the 2018 Australian Open semifinals.

2. Salvatore Caruso

Salvatore Caruso played his last match on the ITF circuit at the end of last season but officially retired this year. Caruso, 32, reached a personal best ranking of No. 86 in 2020 and won two Challenger titles in a 14-year playing career.

3. Gianluca Mager

Gianluca Mager was ever-present on the Challenger Tour, where he played 302 matches (151-151). Mager, 30, lifted six titles at that level and spent time in and out of the ATP’s Top 100 between 2020 and 2022.

4. Nicole Rivkin

22-year-old Nicole Rivkin announced her retirement in an emotional post on Instagram, seemingly content with her short-lived tennis career. She mostly competed on the lower levels and was never ranked higher than 718th in the WTA singles rankings.

5. Marie Benoit

Belgian WTA player Marie Benoit also retired, citing mental and physical struggles in a detailed post she shared on her Instagram account. The 30-year-old also noted that her passion for the sport was dwindling. Benoit reached the world’s Top 200 at her peak and is a 15-time ITF champion.

6. Alana Parnaby

Alana Parnaby called time on her playing career in early August. The 30-year-old Australian played her last competitive match at the W30 Launceston ITF in her home country at the end of February. Most of her success was in doubles, where she won eight ITF titles.

7. Nadine Keller

Nadine Keller is another player who is turning the page and embracing a new chapter in her life. She was last in action last November but only recently decided to hang up her racket. Keller, who was first introduced to tennis as a 5-year-old, is retiring at 25, having been ranked as high as World No. 416 and won one ITF title.
