A friendly exchange: Tiafoe receives coveted bandana from Shnaider

Frances Tiafoe and Diana Shnaider shared a friendly moment on the Cincinnati Open practice courts. It all started after Tiafoe had been telling the Russian player for months that he wanted a bandana like hers. Shnaider is known for wearing bandanas, a distinctive look that sets her apart from her peers on the tour. This time, "Big Foe" received a bandana as a gift from Shnaider, and they took a smiling photo together that was shared on social media.

Tiafoe, the 2024 Cincinnati finalist, is already in the Round of 16, where he will face Holger Rune for a spot in the quarterfinals. On the other hand, Shnaider suffered a surprising debut loss to lucky loser Yue Yuan in a three-set battle, which continues her loss of momentum from the last year, causing her to lose ground after spending months on the brink of breaking into the top 10. Shnaider is currently ranked World No. 22 in the live rankings.

Alcaraz embraces a Mexican wrestling mask after practice

Carlos Alcaraz received a unique gift while signing autographs in Cincinnati after his last practice session. The Spaniard survived a tough first-round match against Damir Džumhur and was back on the practice courts on Monday, hoping to improve his form after a shaky debut where he ultimately won on pure class.

After his morning practice, the Spaniard was signing autographs and received a special gift from his Mexican fans who came to see him: a traditional wrestling mask. He didn't hesitate to try it on and have some fun while a photo was taken of him with the memorable gift.

Sabalenka recovers after grueling battle

Aryna Sabalenka also spent her day signing autographs, though in her case, it was in the minutes after finishing her third-round match against Emma Raducanu. The world No. 1 survived a brutal, three-hour-plus battle in the main stadium, defeating Raducanu for the third consecutive time after a tight match that was decided in a third-set tie-break.

The three-time Grand Slam champion later shared a series of photos of her post-match recovery, where she was seen taking an ice bath in her recovery work after the over three-hour battle with Raducanu. Sabalenka is preparing for her Round of 16 match on Wednesday, where she will face Spain's Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, who has defeated rivals like Leylah Fernandez and Taylor Townsend on her way.

Fernandez posts message after another early loss

Leylah Fernandez left a message on social media after suffering another early defeat during the North American hardcourt swing. The Canadian started her U.S. campaign in the best possible way, winning her first WTA 500 title at the D.C. Open in late July. Despite high expectations following the most important title of her career, she has faced disappointing losses in her subsequent appearances, first at the Canadian Open and now at the Cincinnati Open.

Fernandez, who entered as the 21st seed, couldn't do much against the inspired Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, who won 6-3, 6-3, sending the Canadian No. 1 home early. “It hurts to fall, but it’s easier to get back up when I have all of you behind me. I like to think every setback is just a setup for the comeback. See you guys in Monterrey and then at the US Open,” she posted on social media.
