Stefanos Tsitsipas Questions His Mother About Apostolos in an Adorable Mother’s Day Video

In a touching and intimate Mother’s Day video, Stefanos Tsitsipas sat down with his mother, Julia Salnikova, for a rare and heartfelt conversation that gave fans a personal glimpse into the Tsitsipas family dynamic. Tsitsipas asked his mother a few candid questions and one of them was centered around how she met his father, Apostolos Tsitsipas.

“Oh, you know very well how we met- we met in Athens club, one of the most beautiful tennis clubs in Europe,” recalled his mother with a smile on her face. “Apostolos, your dad, invited me for a drink, and that's how slowly- it was the beginning yeah,” she added.

Tsitsipas’ parents have always had a heavy influence in his tennis career. Both, his mother and father have been seen multiple times travelling with him to almost every tournament until recently. Tsitsipas has recently split with his father, who was coaching and travelling with him for years.

Salnikova also went on to mention that Tsitsipas had very similar qualities to his father and those were the ones that she adored in them both.

“You see, I mean the people who are married for 40 years like us, they would understand me,” she said. “You see the qualities sometimes the one you came into the marriage with, they're changing on the way,” she added. “I can say generally what I really appreciate in men. I appreciate two qualities, generosity and humor.”

‘In what ways do you think I am similar to you’ asks Tsitsipas to which his mother replies with a smile- “generosity and in humor.” This chemistry between Tsitsipas and his mother shows us how family can be such an important ingredient in the mixture of life, even when you’re travelling round the globe throughout the year. Tsitsipas is currently competing in Rome at the Italian Open before heading to Paris for the second slam of the year.
