Tennis legends are set to return to the spotlight in 2025 as Warner Bros. Discovery secures exclusive European rights to the inaugural Legends Team Cup, an exciting new international team tournament featuring some of the sport’s most iconic players.

The tournament will showcase former ATP stars, including Grand Slam champion Dominic Thiem, live across Europe on Warner Bros. Discovery’s (WBD) platforms HBO Max and discovery+.

Fans will be able to stream every match of the seven-tournament tour, while highlights programmes will air on Eurosport throughout Europe and on TNT Sports in the UK and Ireland.

The Legends Team Cup launches its first event from August 14 to 16, 2025 in Europe, with subsequent tournaments scheduled across Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East throughout the year. Each event lasts three days, featuring two teams competing in a format of two singles matches and one doubles match daily.

Collectively, the three elite teams boast an impressive 503 ATP Tour titles across singles and doubles, all vying to lift the prestigious Bjorn Borg Trophy, named in honour of the tournament’s patron.

The competition is captained by tennis greats Carlos Moya, James Blake, and Mark Philippoussis. Alongside Dominic Thiem, other notable players confirmed include Sam Querrey, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Feliciano Lopez, and Diego Schwartzman. The tour also welcomes recent retirees like Richard Gasquet, who last month played his final professional match at Roland-Garros.

Scott Young, Executive Vice President of WBD Sports Europe, said of the partnership: "We’re thrilled to bring the Legends Team Cup to millions of viewers across Europe. This innovative tournament brings together some of the most iconic names in tennis, which will deliver unforgettable moments for fans in some stunning locations across the globe. The fast-paced, unique format of two sets of four games in the competition makes it a unique proposition for fans to watch.".

He added, "Adding the Legends Team Cup demonstrates our commitment to showcasing innovative sporting formats across the world and we can’t wait to see how some of these tennis greats extend their legacy.".

Marten Hedlund, president of the Legends Team Cup, highlighted the significance of the deal: “Partnering with Warner Bros. Discovery marks a major milestone for the Legends Team Cup, as we’re now able to showcase our tour to millions of people around the world.".

He continued, "I’ve long had the belief that there should be more opportunities for tennis players to extend their careers once they retire from the ATP Tour, and that is what we are providing with the Legends Team Cup. This is a new chapter in the history of tennis, one where legends can continue to inspire, compete and connect with fans worldwide.".

The Legends Team Cup promises a fresh and exciting chapter for tennis enthusiasts eager to see their favourite stars compete once again on the court.
