With two-time defending French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz missing the tournament with an injury, the door was open for his counterpart Jannik Sinner to win the event for the first time in his career.
But after a dominating start against Juan Manuel Cerundolo in the second-round the world’s top-ranked player collapsed, losing 18 of the next 20 games and eventually the match. Sinner, who came into the clash with 30-straight wins, admitted he didn’t feel his best on the clay at Roland-Garros.
“I didn’t feel very well on the court. I started feeling very dizzy and low energy,” he said.
“In the beginning, I was hitting very clean, then I just hit a wall. I was very, very flat. I don’t remember the last time I felt this weak.”
Which brings us to today’s quiz. With both Sinner and Alcaraz not in the field, 39 year old Novak Djokovic has a golden opportunity for a fourth-career French Open title and first since 2023. With that being said, can you name the French Open men’s singles champions since 1968?
Good luck!
