'The train has left the station,' Roger Federer crushes comeback controversies with his 'relieved' take on retirement 

It has been a couple of years since Roger Federer played his last match in tennis. In front of the beautiful London crowd, the Swiss pro announced his retirement, playing his final match at the Laver’s Cup. It went on to be known as one of the most emotional moments in tennis history. 

Despite retiring, there were still optimists who believed that the 8-time Wimbledon champion would make a return once his knee injury heals. However, Federer had plans of venturing into the business world, as he left the tennis world with a lot of memories

Even in multiple interviews, Federer reiterated the fact that he was truly retired and wouldn’t be making a return. Recently, he was caught up in an interview with GQ Sports, where the Swiss legend crushed all comeback controversies. 

Yeah, it’s super highly emotional. Something that has always been with you is gone and will be forever gone, and you cannot have it back as much as you want it back. The train has left the station. And that’s okay, and I want it to be that way, but of course, you cannot just go from one day to the next and say like, “Okay, no problem, that’s easy. Federer said in the interview, when asked about the night in London. 

Federer revisited the emotional London night when he gave his retirement speech. Having said that, the 42-year-old does not regret his decision to retire from the sport. He even stated that he is at peace with his decision, as he shut down all speculations on his comeback. Now, the legend gears up for the next phase of his career, and the fans are ready to stand behind him.

Tennis’s face for many years, Roger Federer revisited a familiar question about his decision to leave tennis. Surprisingly, Federer was rather calm. He revealed to be at peace with this decision, knowing that his body and knee won’t help. 

Yeah, I get that question a lot, and I don’t miss it. I really don’t. I feel really at peace. I think it’s also because I know that my knee and my body and my mind don’t allow me to be out there. Roger Federer said via GQ

It is to be noted that Federer has not lost his love for tennis, as he was seen playing a few shots with his wife and kids. There are also tennis players like Caroline Wozniacki, who came out of retirement to play tennis. 

This is not the case for Federer, who has achieved all that he could in tennis. He felt like he had squeezed his lemon and tried everything that he could. A successful career to remember for the Swiss, who now moves on to the next phase of his life. Spending time with his kids, the Swiss pro is enjoying after retirement and is happy where he is right now.
