The Valentine’s message Amanda Anisimova has written to Coco Gauff

Amanda Anisimova and Coco Gauff both suffered early exits at the Qatar Open this week, despite being the third and fourth seeds at the event.

Gauff was stunned by Elisabetta Cocciaretto in her opening match, while Anisimova was forced to retire from her contest against Karolina Pliskova while trailing in the deciding set.

Following their losses, the pair will both travel to the United Arab Emirates to take part in the Dubai Tennis Championships – a tournament last won by Mirra Andreeva.

The hustle and bustle of the WTA Tour never ends. However, the pair recently found time to share heart-warming Valentine’s messages with one another.

Amanda Anisimova’s Valentine’s message to Coco Gauff

In a video published on the Tennis Channel’s Instagram page, a number of WTA stars were asked to write a Valentine’s message to another player on the Tour

“Thanks Amanda, so nice,” Gauff said as she received the card wrapped in a red paper envelope.

Reading Anisimova’s message, Gauff said: “‘Keep spreading the joy. From me to you.’ That’s super sweet.”

Gauff and Anisimova were not the only ones to receive Valentine’s cards from fellow players. Jelena Ostapenko and Daria Kasatkina also shared a heartfelt moment.

Ostapenko’s message read: “‘Dear Dasha, I wish you a very happy Valentine’s Day. Yes, I’m also really happy that we are friends now, with love from your friend. Happy Valentine’s Day my friend.

Kasatkina added: “You see? You can [turn] any hate relationship into a friendship.”

Ostapenko also read her message from Kasatkina, which said: “‘I wish you a happy Valentine’s Day. I’m so happy that our juniors hate relationship transferred into friends. Love, your friend Dasha.'”

Leylah Fernandez Valentine’s message to Victoria Mboko

Leylah Fernandez, the world number 27, also wrote a Valentine’s card for her compatriot.

The front of the card read, ‘I like you more than pizza.’

As relayed by Mboko, Fernandez’s message read: “‘You’re an amazing friend and a wonderful person. Keep smiling and spreading love on and off the court.'”

“Can I keep it?” Mboko added.

Mboko is currently competing at the Qatar Open, and on Thursday she faces Elena Rybakina in the quarter-finals.

As for Leylah Fernandez, she exited the tournament in the first round. The Canadian has struggled so far this year and now has just one singles victory in six attempts.
