For the first time in Grand Slam history, the Wimbledon women’s singles final was an all-Czech affair, with 21 year old Linda Noskova fending off a furious rally from Karolina Muchova in the second-set to take the title 6-2, 5-7, 6-3.
Muchova, who jokingly called Noskova her “ex-friend,” ahead of the clash, had nothing but praise for her countrywoman and 2024 Paris Olympics doubles teammate.
“This was your first final. The way you handled it was really unbelievable. You’re a very kind person, you deserve it,” the 29 year old runner-up told Noskova.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. How many of the women’s singles Wimbledon champions of the Open Era (since 1968) can you name in seven minutes?
Good luck!
