Spanish tennis star Paula Badosa recently let her frustrations be known when comparing women's tennis to that of their male counterparts, highlighting how the media tends to focus more on the personal lives of the former.

The World No.9 is coming off a competitive showing in Berlin last week, as she prepares for the upcoming Wimbledon Championships. Badosa defeated American star Emma Navarro en route to the quarterfinals at the grass court event, where she was forced to retire mid-match due to injury against eventual runner-up Xinyu Wang.

Women's tennis is not as valued as men's, says Badosa

As the former World No.2 finishes up her preparations for SW19, she took some time to talk with Elle magazine. Badosa touched on several topics, one of which centered around the gender bias seen in the sport of tennis. According to Badosa, fans and the media tend to focus more on the personal side of women's tennis, as opposed to the men.

"We've evolved quite a bit, but it can't be denied that in women's sports, the personal side is more focused than in men's, and topics are discussed that shouldn't even be touched upon," said the 27-year old.

Badosa will look to bounce back at Wimbledon next week. However, her best results have been average, with the former Indian Wells champion equaling her career-best showing of a round of 16 appearance at last year's edition.
