Sunday was an eventful one for soccer forward Trinity Rodman of the Washington Spirit and her tennis star boyfriend Ben Shelton.

Both athletes, who have been dating since at least March 2025, won their respective matches. To make it even better, the couple delivered thrilling performances that made headlines.

Rodman, Shelton Come Up Clutch

Rodman went viral during the Spirit's showdown with the Portland Thorns, thanks to her match-winner in the 92nd minute of play.

Entering the contest in the 76th minute as a second-half substitute, Rodman made the most of her playing time. When the ball luckily bounced in front of her after a cross from Courtney Brown and a deflection from Croix Bethune, she didn't hesitate to fire it from close range.

A brilliant first touch saw Rodman send the ball into the back of the net, sparking delight and massive cheers from fans as the Spirit took the 2-1 victory.

It's worth noting that the match was Rodman's first since April. She took a three-month break to recover from a chronic back injury.

Shelton, meanwhile, also played a tightly contested affair against Italian star Flavio Cobolli at the National Bank Open in Toronto. The world No. 7 even saw himself trail 5-3 in the deciding set before clawing his way back for a 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (1) victory.

The victory also marked Shelton's 100th tour-level win, a significant career milestone considering that he only went pro in 2022.

Trinity Rodman Loves a 'Clutch Day' With Ben Shelton

After their big performances, Rodman took to her Instagram Stories to react to the development.

As she shared a video of Shelton's match-point against Cobolli, she wrote, "Clutch day I guess" — clearly referencing her performance as well.

For what it's worth, Rodman and Shelton have been openly supporting each other on social media. In fact, after the NWSL star's match-deciding goal on Sunday, the tennis player took to Instagram to give her a new nickname, calling her "The truth."
