Fabio Fognini is pushing Carlos Alcaraz to the limit, sending their Wimbledon match to a decisive 5th set. The veteran Italian is giving the 2-time defending champion a remarkable battle and has a live chance to deliver a big upset on the tournament's first day.

The world No. 2 is facing a tough challenge against the Italian and has been far from the level he displayed in recent months, with 18 consecutive wins and the Queen's Club Championships title. After securing a tight first set, Fognini then took the second set in a tie-break.

In the third set, Alcaraz reacted after more than an hour, but in the 4th, he significantly deflated. Two consecutive breaks ultimately decided the 4th set in favor of Fognini, who is just one set away from eliminating the 2-time defending champion and snapping his impressive streak of 3 consecutive titles.

Currently, the score for Alcaraz is 7-5, 6-7(5), 7-5, 2-6, and the match has surpassed 3 hours and 50 minutes. The 5th set could deliver an early surprise in the tournament, after a match where Alcaraz has accumulated over 50 unforced errors and has yet to find his top form.
