What in the world? I don’t get it. It’s not that hard to let us play tennis and be supportive. Danielle Collins yelled at the crowd during her match at Monterrey Open.

The video of Collins yelling at the crowd in frustration was shared on social media. Meanwhile, a user confirmed that a heckler was shouting Andreeva’s name.

This is not the first time Collins has snapped at the crowd for their unruly behavior. At the Madrid Open, earlier this year, Collins was heard shouting at the stands and demanding a “little more respect”.

Danielle Collins gets a stain in Monterrey in decent farewell season

Danielle Collins has been enjoying a decent farewell season so far. However, after losing to Erika Andreeva at the Monterrey Open, her fairytale run has hit a small hurdle. The 30-year-old lost to Andreeva in three sets despite winning the first 6-1. The Russian tennis player won the second and third 6-3, each, to complete a clinical win.

But apart from this loss, Collins has been nothing short of fabulous in her farewell season. She started the season in Brisbane and then played at the 2024 Australian Open. Although Collins suffered a second-round exit at the year’s first Grand Slam tournament, she improved her performance from thereon.

She made it to the quarterfinals in Qatar and Austin. Collins then won her maiden WTA 1000 title in Miami. She backed it with a title-winning campaign in Charleston and also made it to the semifinals in Rome and the final in Strasbourg.

A pre-quarterfinals run at Wimbledon and a quarterfinal run at the 2024 Paris Olympics made Collins’ farewell season even more memorable. She will now hope to bounce back from the first-round exit in Monterrey and go back to make deep runs at the events in the business end of the year.
