Washout in Seoul as Korea Open cancelled on Friday including Swiatek v Krejcikova in Quarter-Finals

Earlier in the week saw issues with the rain at the Korea Open and they have manifested again as the whole of Friday has been cancelled without a single match being played on the singles side of the draw in Seoul due to continuous rain.

The four Quarter-Finals at the Korea Open will now take place in Saturday's day session as No.1 seed Iga Swiatek will take on Barbora Krejcikova at midday local time on Centre Court followed by No.2 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova facing off against Ella Seidel.

While on Grandstand, Clara Tauson will face off against Maya Joint followed by Suzan Lamens facing off against Katerina Siniakova all of these for semi-final spots.

The semi-finals will be played in Saturday's night session not before 5pm local time as the Swiatek/Krejcikova winner will face Tauson or Joint. While Alexandrova/Seidel face Lamens/Siniakova. So we could be slated for Swiatek v Alexandrova on Sunday. The doubles Quarter-Finals will take place though on Friday.

They have been shifted indoors with Krejcikova and Siniakova playing for the first time in over a year facing Jaqueline Cristian and Hsieh Su-Wei. With a lot of tournaments including China Open next week on the horizon, Swiatek in particular will be itching to get back on court and complete the job.

Emma Raducanu fell yesterday after having a myriad of match points and will now move on perhaps thankfully not having to play potentially three matches in two days like the rest of the contingent in Seoul. Not exactly the start to the Asian swing wanted by the event.
