Aryna Sabalenka and Novak Djokovic shared a hilarious moment at Wimbledon when the 24-time Grand Slam champion crashed the Belarusian’s press conference and assessed her game—pointing out the one area she needs to improve.
Both players are preparing for the third Grand Slam of the year and are considered among the top contenders—especially world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka. The two stars had hit together the day before in a session that went viral on social media, and both commented on it this afternoon.
Sabalenka was answering questions during her pre-Wimbledon press conference when Novak Djokovic suddenly appeared. The Serbian was scheduled for the next press slot and arrived slightly early—joining Sabalenka’s session and commenting on their shared time on court.
Sabalenka had just been asked about their training session and post-hit conversations when Djokovic walked in. “Oh really, seriously?” Sabalenka said with a smile as the 24-time Grand Slam champion entered the room. “You see guys? Come on in here, we can talk, chat,” she added, inviting him to join her.
“What is the question?” Djokovic quickly asked, ready to participate amid the surprised reporters.
“They’re asking what we were chatting about after our one-hour hit,” replied three-time major champion Sabalenka.
“Actually, let me ask you a question. What did you think of hitting with me? How do you see my level? Am I good?”
“I think you have the potential, you’re a really talented player,” said Djokovic. “You have nice strokes, good technique—but… can I be honest? You’re lacking intensity on the court. You don’t have enough intensity.”
“Really? That’s what you’re going to say right now?” Sabalenka replied, laughing.
“You gotta… lighten up a little bit, like, put some power in it,” Djokovic concluded.
“Before, this guy was my favourite player—but not anymore, obviously,” Sabalenka joked before standing up to give her seat to Djokovic.
“Have fun, guys. Please be hard on him,” she added to the reporters before leaving the room.
