Big shotmaking will be on display on Day 4 of Wimbledon as Gael Monfils brings the flair against Marton Fucsovics and Czech Jakub Mensik aims to make a deep run this tournament. As always, we have predictions for every match from our panel of experts.
Ateet: Gael Monfils delivered another vintage performance to take out the #18 seed, Ugo Humbert, in five sets. This win will give the Frenchman a lot of confidence to win some more matches here, and he will like his chances against Marton Fucsovics, who also played a five-setter in the first round. Monfils leads the head-to-head and has the advantage on serve. Prediction: Monfils in 4
Damian: Both players survived five-setters in the opening round and will have to regather their energy quickly. Lucky loser Fucsovics is a former Wimbledon quarterfinalist and has that killer slice, which might bring him plenty of success even in this matchup. Even in his prime, this was by far the weakest Grand Slam event for Monfils.
Prediction: Fucsovics in 4
Ateet: Miomir Kecmanovic got a much-needed win in the first round to end his three-match losing streak. He defeated the in-form Alex Michelsen in a gruelling five-setter. Jesper de Jong had a similar first-round experience as he got the better of Christopher Eubanks in the deciding set tiebreak. Both players will look to avoid another long match, but it’s more than likely to go there. Prediction: de Jong in 5
Damian: De Jong went all the way to a 5th-set tie-break with Eubanks and maybe he’ll finally start feeling a bit more comfortable on the grass. The lower bounce and not much time to produce his heavy groundstrokes make this surface far from ideal playing conditions for his game. Kecmanovic is probably a bit too solid not to capitalize.
Prediction: Kecmanovic in 4
Ateet: Third time is the charm for Fabian Marozsan as he got his first main draw win at Wimbledon in a convincing performance. He has a solid game for grass and can cause a lot of problems in the draw if he gets past Jaume Munar, who continues his excellent 2025 season. Munar defeated the dangerous Alexander Bublik in five sets. The Spaniard remained solid and made very few errors from the back of the court. This is anybody’s match. Prediction: Marozsan in 5
Damian: Munar’s fast-court ability has improved a lot this year with the Spaniard working on incorporating more aggression in the off-season. It was enough to almost knock out Alcaraz in Queen’s and to get Bublik very frustrated in the opening round here. Marozsan will also need to be very cautious to avoid falling into the same traps.
Prediction: Marozsan in 5
Ateet: Jakub Mensik has opened his account at Wimbledon and looks set to make a deep run. His serve is massive and thrives even more on this surface. Giron is a solid player and can hang with higher-ranked players, especially on grass, but he doesn’t have the weapons to trouble Mensik and win three sets. Prediction: Mensik in 4
Damian: Improving on grass is difficult for youngsters with how little they get to play on this surface over the course of the year. As such, we’re still a little unclear on where Mensik is on the lawn right now. Giron’s a solid opponent who will test that and the Czech has been struggling to control his nerves in most recent Grand Slam showings.
Prediction: Giron in 5
