In what promises to be a blockbuster match, arguably the greatest of all time Novak Djokovic will take on one of the two men beginning a quest to take that crown in Jannik Sinner for a place in the final at Wimbledon. It will be a legacy defining match for both and, as ever, we here at LWOT will be offering our prediction for the match – but who will book their place in Sunday’s showpiece final?

Wimbledon Semifinal Prediction

Novak Djokovic vs Jannik Sinner

Jim: The obvious winner is Sinner. The Italian might be lucky to still be in the tournament, but apart from Grigor Dimitrov, no one has been able to lay a glove on him. Djokovic, in contrast, has had to battle his way into the last four. He has at points looked imperious, rolling back the years and demonstrating just why he has won so many of the sport’s biggest titles so often, but at other point he has looked distinctly fallible. As much as the heart wants to believe that he has one last shot at glory in him, and if there is a player who could do it would be Djokovic. But the head knows that the Serbian simply is not the player he once was, and Sinner’s excellent return and athleticism means this is a match-up that does not favour Djokovic.

Prediction: Sinner in 4

Jordan: Grass undoubtedly represents Djokovic’s best chance of beating Sinner. There are still some question marks about how Sinner’s elbow issue will hold up in a long match, but none of his shots were impacted in the quarterfinal. The contest being on grass and Sinner’s troublesome elbow are still not enough for me to against the Italian. He has dominated this matchup recently, and I think the world #1 will be relentless enough in all departments to triumph.

Manan: It’s a repeat of the French Open Semifinals. Djokovic’s serve, movement and slice usage makes him a strong contender. World # 1 Sinner had a lucky escape against Dimitrov but once again looked clinical against Shelton. His movement has improved leaps and bounds on this surface, and he has been serving with impeccable accuracy. For Djokovic to win he needs to dominate in straight sets. If it goes deep, Sinner’s fresher legs will prove the difference.

Prediction: Sinner in 5

Ateet: Djokovic is a step closer to that eighth Wimbledon title, but will face his toughest test by far in the form of Sinner. Sinner has had his number in the last four meetings, and Djokovic faces a monumental task 1. The Serbian hasn’t looked at his absolute best in the previous two matches with a dip here and there, and will have to avoid that against the Italian. They recently met in the French Open semifinals, with Sinner winning in three close sets. However, Djokovic’s best opportunity of defeating Sinner is on grass, where his serve and return combo can overwhelm the world #1. Expect this one to be a close match, possibly going the distance.

Prediction: Djokovic in 5

Yesh: When these two met at the French Open, Sinner dominated from the baseline. Grass isn’t quite clay, and Djokovic is far more comfortable than Sinner at moving on this surface, but the Serb will need to adjust his game to find away around Sinner. Hitting through him won’t work.

Prediction: Sinner in 4
