The round of 16 in Beijing is shaping up nicely, with a mix of rising stars and proven names all looking to punch their ticket to the quarterfinals. Some players have been building steady form through the season, while others are putting together a run of momentum this week. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match on the schedule. But who will advance?

WTA Beijing Day 8 Predictions

Mirra Andreeva vs Sonay Kartal

Head-to-Head: first meeting

Andreeva has grown into the tournament after a tricky opener, showing the composure that has already carried her deep at big events. Kartal, meanwhile, has impressed with clean, aggressive hitting and comes into this clash with plenty of confidence. It’s their first meeting, and while Andreeva’s experience might count for something, Kartal has the tools to keep it competitive.

Prediction: Andreeva in 2

Marta Kostyuk vs Jessica Pegula

Head-to-Head: Pegula 3–1 Kostyuk

Kostyuk has been sharp in recent weeks and carried that form into Beijing with strong early-round performances. Pegula, though, remains one of the most reliable players on hard courts and looked composed in her last match. Their previous meetings have been closely fought, which suggests this could be another tight contest decided by key moments.

Prediction: Pegula in 2

Anastasia Potapova vs Linda Noskova

Head-to-Head: Potapova 1–0 Noskova

Potapova looked solid in her last outing, using her baseline game to dictate rallies effectively. Noskova continues to back up her reputation as one of the game’s rising threats and has the firepower to unsettle anyone. With the head-to-head tied and both players comfortable on hard courts, this matchup feels like it could hinge on momentum swings.

Prediction: Potapova in 3

Iga Swiatek vs Emma Navarro

Head-to-Head: Swiatek 1–0 Navarro

Swiatek cruised through her last round, bringing the focus and intensity that have made her dominant across surfaces. Navarro is beginning to look like the player we saw last season, showing once more that her developing all-court game translates well on hard courts. Swiatek was dominant when they met in January at the Australian Open, and while Navarro’s confidence is growing once again, the top seed should be too much for her.

Prediction: Swiatek in 2
