2026 is under way on the WTA tour with everyone already looking forward to the Australian Open. However, there are still many tournaments to play before that, with Brisbane one of the highest level ones on paper. Day 3 should provide plenty of exciting tennis, with some top 10 players in action this Monday Down Under. But who will advance?

WTA Brisbane Day 3 Predictions

Karolina Muchova vs Ajla Tomljanovic

Head-to-head: Tomljanovic 1-0 Muchova

Tomljanovic won their meeting at the 2022 US Open, but it is over three years later now and Karolina Muchova is now a slam finalist, a top 20 player (and even reached top 10), and clearly the better player of the two. Under normal circumstances, she should have a stronger season than Tomljanovic in 2026 and should be able to advance here.

Prediction: Muchova in 2

Marie Bouzkova vs Paula Badosa

Head-to-head: Badosa 4-0 Bouzkova

Although she hasn’t been at her best lately, Paula Badosa will be looking to have a much stronger 2026 and her very clear advantage in this head-to-head shows that this is quite a comfortable matchup for her. Bouzkova would likely have to produce something well above their normal level to be able to trouble the Spaniard here.

Prediction: Badosa in 2

Diana Shnaider vs Anastasia Potapova

Head-to-head: Potapova 1-0 Shnaider

Shnaider’s 2025 was perhaps not as much of a breakthrough here as many expected, but she remains one of the most talented and promising young player on the WTA tour. Big things are expected of her in 2026. Potapova is far from an easy opponent, but Shnaider is definitely the more talented player of the two and should advance here.

Prediction: Shnaider in 3

McCartney Kessler vs Madison Keys

Head-to-head: first meeting

The 2025 Australia swing was by far the peak of Madison Keys’ career (so far, anyway), with a title in Adelaide followed by an incredible run to a first Grand Slam title in Melbourne. Repeating such a feat will be almost impossible, but Keys will certainly have prepared the season well and be looking to gain momentum at WTA Brisbane ahead of her Australian Open title defense.

Prediction: Keys in 2
