This week’s WTA event in Prague didn’t feature a particularly strong field, as expected given its awkward placement in the calendar, but it produced some great quality matches all week and is set to have a very compelling final between the #1 and #5 seeds, who have both been in excellent form all week, especially today in the semifinals. It’s also a final between two players who, aside from this run, have previously reached the final at this tournament, with one of them having actually won their only career title here. All the ingredients seem to be reunited for a great final, one full of high quality tennis and with an unpredictable outcome.
Head-to-head: Bouzkova 2-1 Noskova
While Bouzkova leads the head-to-head, it’s Noskova who is currently the better player–and that was very apparent when they faced at the Australian Open last year and she won with relative ease. With this being a final and both players having shown quite a high level to make it this far, this encounter should be far closer and more competitive than that one in Australia, but it is still fair to give Noskova the advantage going in.
That said, Prague is a happy hunting ground for Bouzkova, the place where she won the only title of her career so far, back in 2022. She clearly likes the conditions in the Czech capital and can play some great tennis here, so she is certainly in with a very good chance of upsetting Noskova and grabbing a second career title. Ultimately, the match should come down to who holds their nerve better and shows better execution in the big points. At the level both have been showing this week, it should be a very close match decided by fine margins.
Prediction: Noskova in 3
