The 2025 WTA Italian Open final is set, and it pits No. 4 seed Coco Gauff against No. 6 seed Jasmine Paolini. Gauff is seeking her 10th title and first on clay since Parma 2021, and Paolini will be aiming to become the first Italian woman to win the singles title since 1985. This should be a fascinating match, which will crown a new champion in Rome. As always, we at LWOT will offer our prediction for the final. But who will lift the trophy?
Head-to-Head: Gauff 2-1 Paolini
Jasmine Paolini was trailing a couple of times in the opening set against Peyton Stearns in the semifinal, but she dug deep once again and turned the tables on her opponent. She becomes the first Italian woman to reach the Rome final since Sara Errani in 2014. Paolini has showcased many times this week that she will pounce on anything if given an opportunity. The crowd will provide a huge boost for the Italian as she aims to win her third WTA title.
Gauff has a fantastic record in finals and leads the head-to-head against Paolini. However, Paolini won their most recent meeting on clay, which will give her confidence. Both players are great defenders and cover the court brilliantly, but Gauff has the edge on serve and is also a more powerful player. If she can reduce her double faults and fatigue does not play a significant role, she will win.
Prediction: Gauff in 3
