WTA Seoul Day 3 Predictions Including Sofia Kenin vs Maya Joint

Rain disrupted play on Day 2 in Seoul, meaning Barbora Krejcikova’s victory against Tatiana Prozorova was the only match completed. Emma Raducanu vs Jaqueline Cristian and Diana Shnaider vs Caty McNally are among the opening-round contests that will be finished on Day 3. Two round-0f-16 matches are also scheduled, and we at LWOT predict those in this article.

WTA Seoul Day 3 Predictions

Clara Tauson vs Eva Lys

Head-to-head: First meeting

Lys’s opening round match was good preparation for this matchup. The German did an excellent job of defusing Ashlyn Krueger’s powerful game to triumph 6-3, 6-4. Tauson’s style is very similar to Krueger’s, but the Dane has a higher ceiling. She relies slightly less on her serve with a more complete hard-hitting game from the baseline. Lys’s defensive game will probably need to be even better in this matchup.

Although a formidable challenge, I think Lys can defeat the No. 3 seed. Tauson often becomes frustrated against athletic players who put a lot of balls back into the court. If Lys soaks up pressure and then finds opportunities to be aggressive with her excellent backhand, she has a good chance.

Prediction: Lys in 3

Sofia Kenin vs Maya Joint

Head-to-head: Joint 1-0 Kenin

2020 Australian Open winner Kenin battled through a lengthy match against the crafty Laura Siegemund in the previous round. Although Joint possesses more firepower than Siegemund, there will also be many lengthy rallies in this encounter. Kenin had lost four consecutive times before the previous round. While that victory against Siegemund could give her momentum, I have doubts about whether she is playing well enough to beat the quickly rising Joint.

The 19-year-old has been one of the breakout stars of 2025, winning two titles. Her return, athleticism, and groundstrokes are already among the most solid on the WTA Tour. Joint’s serve is the most significant weakness, and dominating on second serve return will be critical to Kenin’s chances. The American remains one of the most talented players out there, but I do not trust her to be consistent enough in this matchup.

Prediction: Joint in 3
