It appears track and field star Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is ready for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
On Sunday at the U.S. track and field New York City Grand Prix, McLaughlin-Levorne ran the third-fastest 400m in U.S. history, winning in 48.75 seconds. Per NBC Sports' Nick Zaccardi, she was five hundredths off Sanya Richards-Ross's record (48.70 seconds).

"Just wanted to get out there, get a race under me," McLaughlin-Levrone told Lewis Johnson on NBC Sports. "The wind was a little interesting on the backstretch, but I'm happy with the time."
McLaughlin-Levrone also ran a 48.74 in the 400m at the U.S. track and field championships in July 2023. Although she's dominating this event, she plans to focus on the 400-meter hurdles at the Olympic trials on June 21-30.
The 24-year-old is the reigning gold medalist and world-record holder in 400-meter hurdles, which may explain why she is focusing on this event.
Whether she runs in other events or not, expect her to win more gold medals at the Paris Olympics, which start on July 26.
