Although they can be somewhat niche and hard to find, there are several games that deal with the subject. But below is a list of nine video games based on the American Revolution that will amp up your Fourth of July celebrations.

No Man’s Land (2003)

No Man’s Land is a real-time strategy game where players can pick one of six factions. This includes American Settlers, American Patriots, as well as two factions of Native Americans.

Connor’s goal also involves stopping the Templars from taking control of the colonies. Assassin’s Creed III sees major incidents and events from the Revolutionary War in cities like Boston and NYC, among other biomes.

Connor can use a range of weapons from pistols to rope darts. This Assassin’s Creed title also introduced naval warfare to the franchise for the first time, making it a special entry in the series.

Hold the Line: The American Revolution (2017)

This strategy board game is perfect if you’re a history buff. The title follows the battles fought during the American Revolution.

In Hold the Line, you can either play as the Americans or the British, with 13 unique playable scenarios. You can become the commander of your armies and deploy them strategically to win battles.

The game also offers four campaigns for players to explore. It’s a faithful adaptation of the board game of the same name. So if you’ve played it before, this may be the perfect digital version for you.

Ultimate Admiral: Age of Sail (2021)

From the Ultimate Admiral series of video games, Age of Sail focused on naval warfare in significant historical wars. Naturally, the game has a campaign focused on the American Revolution where you play as John Paul Jones.

The game employs realistic ship and traversal physics and a detailed damage system, which means you can precisely destroy any part of your opponent’s ship. You’ll have to learn how the ship moves and where the enemies may hit you from.

It has a bit of a learning curve, but it’s a unique experience for strategy fans. You can even storm beaches and conduct land operations against enemies to gain an edge.

1775: Rebellion (2016)

This is yet another adaptation of the award-winning board game by Academy Games. In 1775: Rebellion, players get to command armies of British Redcoats, English Loyalists, German Hessians, American Regulars, Patriots, and more.

By competing with friends or the game’s AI, you get to decide the fate of America. The board video game immerses you by including the original 13 colonies, as well as Maine, Nova Scotia, and Quebec.

Every faction uses a deck of cards for movement, events, and strategy. The game also features three important historical scenarios and up to a four-player multiplayer experience.

Ultimate General: American Revolution (2024)

This grand strategy game by Game-Labs directly puts you in the shoes of American Colonists fighting for control. You get to build your own army, navy, and military infrastructure.

In Ultimate General: American Revolution, you can then go to war at intricate levels, which can be very engaging for fans of the RTS genre. Players are challenged with massive all-out wars and managing everything, down to the last detail.

SGS We The People (2023)

SGS We The People is both a turn-based strategy game and a political simulator. It is razor-focused on the American Revolutionary War, where players must focus on various factors such as policy, diplomacy, economics, and of course, combat.

The game offers five distinct scenarios, and its scale allows land and naval units for both sides of the war. In the game, one player represents the British side while the other represents the American side as the two battle for control.

SGS We The People is all about precisely controlling troops, managing resources, and being decisive.

Holdfast: American Revolution (2026)

Holdfast: American Revolution is an expansion of the original title, Holdfast Nations at War. The game features 150-player multiplayer battles between the American Patriots and British Loyalists.

In this FPS/TPS title by Anvil Game Studios, you get to pick from one of 15 classes and fight in the war with your squad. Coordination is key, and so is communication, which is aided by the game’s proximity chat.

It’s overall an engaging action shooter which is a breath of fresh air among all the strategy-based video games about the American Revolution.
