PlayStation held a State of Play livestream on June 4, 2025, dropping news on a ton of games coming to the platform. One of the announcements involved the PS Plus Classics Catalog, where some massive titles will be coming for subscribers to the service. These classic games are some big-name retro titles as well as lesser-known classic gems, and fans of the service should be thrilled to have an opportunity to experience some fantastic games from a variety of different genres, many of which earned critical acclaim at the time of their release.
Seven games are coming to the PS Plus Classics catalog, plus an additional new game is getting a PS Plus day 1 release. The newly announced Sword of the Sea, where emotional storyline and unique travel combine for a completely unique experience. The game will be dropping August 19, and will be available immediately for those with a PS Plus Game Catalog subscription.
Aside from the day one launch, the other seven PS Plus Classics catalog should also add a great deal of value to the subscription service. Probably the biggest additions are the classic PS1 versions of Resident Evil 2 & 3. Although a release date has not yet been announced for these two entries, they are announced to be making their way to the catalog sometime this summer.
Also coming to the PS Plus Classics catalog are Twisted Metal 3 & 4, originally on PS1, and are being released in anticipation of the next season of Twisted Metal coming to Peacock on July 31. The two franchise entries will be available on the PlayStation Plus Premium’s Classics range on July 15. Deus Ex, a sci-fi simulation originally for the PS2, will join the game catalog on June 15. Finally, the iconic, genre-changing puzzle games Myst and its sequel Riven will be coming to the catalog in June as part of PlayStation’s Days of Play event.
PS Plus has been a bit of a controversial topic for PlayStation fans recently, who feel the service is not always worth the price. While 8 games will not single-handedly change the fanbase’s mind, the selected games will certainly bring enjoyment for a variety of different types of players. The PS Plus Classics Catalog continues to be one of the best parts of the subscription, and by the end of the summer, that will only continue to solidify.
