Arc Raiders Expedition Reset—Buffs, Losses, and Strategy

Alright! You’ve hit level 20, your stash is overflowing, and you’re wondering what the heck an Expedition is. Here’s the deal: Arc Raiders doesn’t do traditional wipes like Tarkov (is that a bad thing?), but it does offer a prestige-style reset called the Expedition Project. And yes, it’s voluntary—but once you commit, your Raider’s going on a one-way trip beyond the Rust Belt. So let’s break down what you lose, what you keep, and why you might actually want to do this.

What Is an Expedition?

Expeditions are Arc Raiders’ answer to the “start fresh” itch. You build a caravan, prep it with resources, and send your Raider off into the unknown. In return, you get account-wide buffs, cosmetic rewards, and a clean slate to play through the game again with a little extra juice.

Important note: This is a permanent character reset. Once your Raider departs, they’re gone. No take-backs, no do-overs. So if you’re emotionally attached to your gear, maybe take a moment before clicking “finalize.”

How Expeditions Work

Expeditions run on an eight-week cycle:

  • Weeks 1–7: Caravan construction and supply phases
  • Week 8: Finalization window opens
  • Day 60: Departure day (miss it and you lose the buffs until next cycle)

If you don’t finish your project in time, your progress is saved—you can pick it up again next cycle. But if you miss the departure window, you’ll have to wait for the next one to actually launch.

To start an Expedition, hit level 20 and go to the Projects tab in the Raider menu. Select “Expedition Project” and begin construction. You’ll need materials like:

  • 150x Metal Parts
  • 200x Rubber Parts
  • 80x ARC Alloy
  • 15x Steel Spring

Once committed, those resources are locked in. No refunds, no regrets. Only tears!

What You Lose

When your Raider departs, you lose:

  • All inventory items
  • Stash upgrades
  • Blueprints
  • Player level and skill points
  • Coins
  • Raider den progress
  • Workshop access
  • Active quests

Basically, everything tied to your character’s grind goes poof.

What You Keep

You do keep:

  • Unlocked maps
  • Unlocked Workshop stations
  • Codex entries
  • Raider Tokens
  • Cred
  • Raider Deck progress
  • Leaderboard status
  • Trials
  • Cosmetics
  • Event progress

Plus, you skip most onboarding steps next time—no need to re-unlock basic features.

What You Gain

Expeditions reward you with:

  • Increased XP gain
  • More Scrappy materials
  • Better weapon repair rates
  • Bonus stash slots
  • Extra skill points (based on stash value at departure)

And yes, these buffs stack with each Expedition you complete—up to a limit. So if you’re the kind of player who lives for resets and optimization, this system’s built for you.

Final Word: Prestige With Purpose

Expeditions are now the Hero’s Journey of the gaming world. Go out, lose almost everything you hold dear, and come back stronger to fight more battles. They let you start fresh, earn long-term buffs, and prove you’ve mastered the chaos. So if you’re ready to say goodbye to your gear and hello to a stronger future Raider, start building that caravan!
