Back in the halcyon days that only sort of were terrible, 2016 to be exact, Nintendo released a mini version of its original NES console. While it looked like the grey box many of us had in the ’80s and ’90s, it was really just a replica that connected up to modern TVs and had an impressive roster of games built in. The success was immediate and in 2018 Nintendo followed it up with the even better SNES Classic Edition. From then, retro gaming enthusiasts have seen a bevy of other smaller console replicas with favorite games. Atari? Well, they’re just giving you a regular old 2600 with PAC-MAN decals and cartridges.
Bandai Namco announced the Atari 2600+ PAC-MAN Edition. The console features a distinctive PAC-MANly yellow and black look with ghosts on the front. The bundle comes with a PAC-MAN: Double Feature 2-in-1 cartridge and a PAC-MAN Edition of the Atari CX40+ Wireless Joystick. The kicker? It costs $169.99 USD. Sorry to this man, but that is too expensive for such a thing. In my humble opinion, of course.

The PAC-MAN edition joystick is available in five colors: PAC-MAN (Yellow), INKY (Blue), BLINKY (Red), PINKY (Pink), and CLYDE (Orange). Additional CX40+ Wireless Joystick will cost $39.99 USD each.
The 2-in-1 cartridge includes PAC-MAN 7800, a brand new, arcade-style version of the classic, along with PAC-MAN 2600, the very first home console release of the game. At least, I suppose, additional games will be available. Bandai announced in the same press release other favorites for Atari aficionados. Galaga, Dig Dug, and Xevious are available for $32.99 USD each. You could also get those three plus the Pac-Man 2-in-1 in the High Score Bundle for $139.99. I would remind you, however, you’d still need an Atari to play these.
