So, one of the more hilariously frustrating games was at State of Play, that’s coming to the PS5. The game is called Baby Steps, and it was developed by Gabe Cuzzillo, Maxi Boch, and, of course, Bennett Foddy. Yeah, Devolver Digital knew exactly what they were doing when they decided to publish this game.
But you ask us—what does this game have to do with being irritating but hilariously frustrating? Well, here’s the description.
You play as Nate, an unemployed dude who has nothing going for him until he discovers a most wonderful talent—which is putting one foot in front of the other. That’s the game! Using his most wonderful talent, you get to explore a world shrouded in mist, finding and witnessing incredible scenery, one step at a time.
Baby Steps looks deceptively easy until you take a good look at who developed the game and have flashbacks to your favorite YouTubers raging at their computers and possibly throwing things across the room (cause big mad when you fail after all that work)!
Yep, Baby Steps is a physics-based walking sim that’ll probably be up there in terms of difficulties in the gameplay. Your steps have to be carefully made so that the beautiful scenery you just witnessed isn’t taken away when you end up somewhere else.
There are some features available that make us scratch our heads and wonder why it’s a thing, but it’s making for a great lead-up to the game itself. In the trailer, we see that Nate really has to go to the toilet and there’s even a cutscene dedicated to it, so it’s no surprise when you look at the Key Features on Steam and find out that there’s a fully dynamic onesie soilage system in-game.
Though we have to wonder—how far are they going in the realm of soilage? Are we talking general grim buildup, or is there going to be a meter that warns us how long it’ll be until a “system release” and the onesie becomes a new impressionist painting?
Baby Steps launches on September 8th, 2025, and if you love the absolute torture that is a physics-based walking sim, then you should wishlist it now on Steam or the PS5!
