Battlefield 6 Open Beta Had 5 Times More Players on Steam Than Black Ops 7

Battlefield 6’s open beta was available on 2 separate weekends in August of this year. In comparison, Call of Duty Black Ops 7 was released this week and will be available until tomorrow. As the two leading FPS franchises on the market, they will always be compared to one another in every possible way, and now, people are comparing the number of players that joined each game’s open beta.

Battlefield 6 is the newest installment in the franchise and has a significant share of the FPS market. Before the full release of Battlefield 6 on October 10, the devs at Battlefield Studios released an open beta back in August. The peak number of players that joined the open beta has recently made headlines, with that amount surpassing Black Ops 7’s open beta 5 times over.

During its peak, Battlefield 6 saw 521,079 concurrent players during open beta, and 334,549 concurrent players during their closed beta. Also, according to TwitchTracker, Battlefield 6 reached a peak viewer count of 868,520 viewers on Twitch. But how many players joined Black Ops 7’s beta?

Black Ops 7’s open beta was much more recent. Black Ops 7 saw a peak of 99,574 concurrent players on October 5, the first day of the open beta for the game; however, these numbers also include Black Ops 6 and COD: Warzone. Black Ops 7 has now peaked at 204,491 concurrent players for the open beta.

Should We Be Comparing Them?

However staggering these number comparisons are, it still isn’t right to compare the Steam numbers between these two games. It’s a little misleading given the fact that Black Ops 7 is available on various platforms, including consoles, Steam, Battle.net, and Xbox PC, whereas Battlefield 6 is available on consoles, Steam, and EA Play only. There are a lot of factors to include when comparing games, and comparing games with just the numbers can’t determine it’s popularity. Battlefield 6 will fully launch in a couple of days on October 10, with Black Ops 7 releasing on November 14.
